Lorraine reviews

Best of the best ???. Since the movie was great, the singers superb, what more can I say? The CD is a good alternative if you are driving by car ...

music. If you like the music from the movie , you will love this cd.

The Music of the Night, Morning, and Afternoon. I purchased this CD for my teenage son (16) and daugheter (14)who have seen the movie and wanted the soundtrack. We all three have enjoyed it many times togehter and separately. They have both downloaded it into their phones for their own enjoyment. I think it says something when teenagers choose to listen to something other than the "popular" music of their generation
The music soars and completely consumes. In our opinion this is a CD of great worth and provides maximum enjoyment.

Holds its own quite well. I have the original London cast CD and now this one. The many reviews here delve deep into each selection, and their strengths and weaknesses. So I'll just add my general impressions:

The movie itself was absolutely wonderful, and I can't wait to get the DVD. One is reminded of the film when listening to the music, so they are intertwined in a way.

Gerard Butler has a fine voice, deep and perfect for the Phantom. He doesn't have a tremendous range, but his voice does justice to the role. And his acting in the film was very good; he showed real range there. He is the center of the film, and he can carry it off.

Patrick Wilson's voice in my opinion matches his name; mild and insipid. He's somewhat credible as an actor, and the chemistry between Emmy Rossum's Christine is believable. However, I felt he just didn't have much power in his voice, and the lack showed.

Emmy Rossum has a fine, sweet voice and was quite up to the challenge of Christine. She's a fine actress, too, and of course extremely pretty.

And a word for Jennifer Ellison who plays Meg Giry, Christine's best friend and daughter of the woman who takes the Phantom in after he escapes from the freak show. What a pretty girlish voice.

Absolutely Beautiful Music. I saw the movie, and I just had to have the music to enjoy over and over. What an awesome sountrack this is. As you listen to the CD, you are taken back over and over into the story. Great Vocals, great compositions, and a sountrack collector's delight.
